Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity provides comprehensive and high-quality care for local people with life-limiting illnesses wherever and whenever they need it. We support their loved ones and carers through the toughest of times. We help families make the most of every day together.

Story

Nine incredible supporters are stepping up for an unforgettable adventure—our 2025 Camino de Santiago Trek this October! They are raising funds for the Hospice.

Across the five-day, 100km+ journey our trekkers will traverse the hilly landscapes of Galicia, passing numerous points of cultural and historical interest along the way. Their final destination will be The UNESCO World Heritage site of Santiago de Compostela.

Our trekkers share their thoughts in this video about the trek and why they’re taking part.

I moved to Aylesbury in 2001 after meeting my partner, Kim. I was lucky to be able to work close to home whilst Kim worked from home, so with no commute we had lots of time for dog walking and other outdoor pursuits.

We owned a narrow boat, and after retiring in 2016 we toured England’s waterways. We also enjoyed holidays in faraway places and were both sun worshippers.

Sadly, Kim died in February last year but received fantastic palliative care from Florence Nightingale nurses during her final weeks.

Last April I had a life-changing Angioplasty procedure which allowed me to walk without pain, for the first time in nine years. A week later I was gifted Mia, a fox red Labrador, with whom there was an instant bond and we spend many an hour walking together every day.
