Story
Starting on 23rd July, I will begin a 3,500km solo cycle from the UK to Greece, crossing 10 countries over the course of five weeks. I’ll carry all my own gear fully unsupported and self-funded, camp each night, and cook my own meals.
I’m doing this to raise both funds and awareness for Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders (MSF), specifically for their emergency relief efforts in Sudan.
Sudan is currently facing the world’s worst humanitarian crisis, yet it remains largely invisible to the global media and public.
Since the civil war began in April 2023, over 150,000 people are estimated to have died and 12 million people have been forced to flee their homes, the highest number of displaced people in the world today.
Children are dying of starvation, hospitals have been bombed or shut down, and MSF staff are often the only medical professionals left on the ground.
Widespread sexual violence, mass killings, and targeted attacks on civilians are being reported with growing urgency.
MSF continues to provide life-saving medical care in Sudan and to those fleeing to neighbouring countries, operating in areas where other organisations cannot or will not go. Their work is both impartial and neutral.
More than raising money, this ride is about raising awareness for a crisis that must not be ignored. Every share, donation, or conversation helps shine a light on what's happening.
I will be aiming to raise
£3500, roughly £1 for every km cycled.
