Story
I have signed up to run the Royal Parks Half Marathon on Sunday 12th October 2025 for the Helen Arkell Dyslexia Charity.
Dyslexia runs through our family and is a challenge our son, Jamie faces every day. Left undiagnosed and unsupported, dyslexia negatively impacts children and young people. It affects their self-esteem, their ability to learn and their life chances.
With your support, the Helen Arkell Dyslexia Charity can help people with dyslexia from all backgrounds to believe, achieve and succeed. They will give hope to parents and children alike who come to the charity feeling hopeless, and help to boost the self esteem and confidence of someone who has felt alone and misunderstood.
Having not run a half marathon for some time this will certainly be a challenge but nothing compared to the daily battle that Jamie and others face with their dyslexia. I'm hoping the knees and the back will hold up but it is a small price to pay for such a worthwhile cause. The training has started in earnest. As my brother in law Tim (unlike me, a proper runner) would say I'll need plenty of "hay in the barn"!
If you felt able to support this wonderful charity who do such excellent work that would be hugely appreciated.
Thank you!
Tim
