ABP Southampton Marathon 2024 · 7 April 2024 ·

We are the Parish Church in Hythe, St Johns & St Annes. We aim to draw closer to God corporately and individually, and unreservedly and unconditionally serve the neighbourhood, we are in.

Story

St John’s and St Anne’s Churches are the heart of the local community and provide vital services, including baby and toddler groups, community coffee mornings, a seniors’ lunch club and a youth club.

We have recently launched a new ‘Who Let the Dads Out’ group (providing a safe space for dads to spend time with their kids) and are just about to start a new service called Bubble Church. Bubble Church is a puppet-packed, croissant-fuelled, Sunday church service especially for babies, toddlers, and young families. We would love for you to join us if you want to find out more. You can book online now at www.bubblechurch.org

We are really excited about all that we have going on! However, both St John’s and St Anne’s Churches are desperately in need of repair. There are major leaks in the roof at both sites, and we’d also love to refurbish the toilet in St John’s Church and provide baby change facilities for those attending our events there, including Bubble Church.

In order to help fund all that we have going on, I will be running both the Southampton Half Marathon on Sunday 7th April and the full Virtual London Marathon on Sunday 21st April. Six months ago, I could barely puff my way through the first week of the Couch to 5K programme, so it’s been quite a journey to reach this point!! So far this year I have run over 1000Km preparing for these events, and hope they can provide an opportunity to give something back to the church and make keep it serving the community for years to come.

Please consider supporting this cause if you’re able – every little bit makes a difference!
