My mum had seven weeks.

Seven weeks from diagnosis to losing her, after metastatic cancer spread to her liver and bones. The speed of it was devastating, and like many families affected by cancer, we were left with very little time and no chance to catch our breath.

In April 2026, I’ll be running the London Marathon — 26.2 miles — in her memory, in the hope that others might have longer.

I’m raising money for the Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) because their work focuses on understanding how cancer develops, spreads and becomes resistant to treatment — particularly aggressive, metastatic cancers like the one that took my mum.

Progress in research is what leads to earlier diagnosis, better treatments and more time for people and their families. Supporting this work feels like a practical and meaningful way to honour my mum, and to help improve outcomes for others facing cancer now and in the future.
