Story
On Friday 28th March 2025, we will be taking on the entire Derwent Valley Heritage Way route raising money for the University of Sheffield student hardship fund.
The Derwent Valley Heritage Way is a route that we have been wanting to complete for a significant period of time. Usually, the route starts at Ladybower Reservoir and ends at the Derwent Mouth where the Derwent flows into the River Trent near Shardlow in Derbyshire. We'll be doing it the opposite way around to finish at Ladybower!
In total, the route is around 55 miles (or 89km) and we'll be completing it in one day and in one long stint.
We'll be raising money for the hardship student fund here at the University of Sheffield. Since COVID-19, up to four times as many students are requesting emergency financial support. The ongoing cost of living, and increasing demands on students to work part-time is putting further limitations on students who are already disadvantaged.
The hardship fund supports students with the day-to-day necessities such as buying a laptop, paying for food, travel costs and even rent or deposits for new accommodation.
Any generous donations will go straight into the hardship pot and be used to support students struggling in these positions. You can read more about this here:

Please donate if you can, and we will do the hiking!
All the best,
Tim and Tom x
