Fundraiser for Style Acre

Steve Whiteside is raising money for Style Acre

''Loop Til You Drop'' · 11 October 2025

In 2025 we celebrate 30 years of providing person centred support to adults with learning disabilities and or autism in Oxfordshire. We will be celebrating by undertaking a variety of wishes and challenges to help raise £30K for the charity.

Story

🚨 When life changes the route, don’t cancel the mission.

I was due to take on the Ridgeway Challenge on 31st May — a 100km ultra trek within 26 hours — all in support of the brilliant work done by Style Acre.

Then came the curveball:

📄 A confirmed diagnosis of Achilles tendinopathy,

📊 MRI scans, specialist advice, and

💥 An order to withdraw from the event due to risk of further injury.

So I asked myself a simple question:

“Is this a time to give up… or to adapt?”

And here’s the answer.

After careful thought, I’ve committed to a new challenge that pushes my limits while allowing my Achilles to heal properly:

### 🏃‍♂️ **Loop Til You Drop: Backyard Ultra**

This unique endurance event is all about mental and physical resilience. Every hour, on the hour, I’ll run a 4.167-mile loop, continuing until I’m the **last one standing** or until I’ve completed the **same distance as the original Ridgeway Challenge** — which would take **21 laps or 21 hours**.

This isn’t just a physical test. It’s a way to **honour the support and donations we’ve already received** for **Style Acre** — an incredible charity that supports people with learning disabilities and autism.

**Why the change?**

Because injury doesn’t mean quitting. It means **adapting**, persevering, and showing that purpose and determination don’t waver in the face of setbacks.

Your support has been amazing, and I’m more committed than ever to making every mile count. Please continue to support this journey and help us reach our fundraising goal for Style Acre.

This isn’t just a physical challenge anymore. It’s about purpose over ego. It's about continuing the mission to support those less fortunate than myself — even when the path changes.

💷 We've hit £1,045 so far, and I’ll keep showing up with everything I’ve got — because the cause is bigger than the setback.

Thanks for being on this journey with me. Let’s go again. 💪 Together, let’s make a difference.
