Story
I had a stroke in August last year. Physically, I am back to normal, but my speech isn’t as good; however, it is getting better. To be absolutely honest, the NHS was absolutely brilliant. Sue diagnosed me straight away, and two ambulances came to my house within 20 minutes, along with a helicopter. They took me to Watford Hospital where they transferred me to Charing Cross Hospital where they removed the clot in my brain within 5 hours of dialing 999.
Watford Hospital was so good to me. I worked hard to regain my speech and movement there for 2 weeks. I was then transferred to Holywell Rehab Centre where I continued my recovery. The staff were kind and encouraging, always ready to lend a helping hand and offer motivation during my recovery.
Now, nearly a year later, I’m gearing up for a 500-mile cycle through the Scottish Highlands to raise funds for the Stroke Association who have been so supportive throughout my whole recovery to both me and the whole family.
This journey signifies not just my physical recovery, but also my determination to support others who have faced similar challenges. Please consider donating, as it is a worthy cause that helps many individuals rebuild their lives after experiencing a stroke. Your support can truly make a difference! Thank you for your generosity!
