Story
My niece, Alice, was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer aged 24 and has spent the last 18 months going through various treatments including chemotherapy and a double mastectomy. In June 2024, surveillance imaging identified five tumours in Alice’s lungs, leading to a diagnosis of metastatic (secondary) cancer.
In spite of all of this, she has remained amazingly positive and has made it her mission to raise awareness and fundraise for cancer research charities: https://www.instagram.com/ifanyonecanalicecan?igsh=ejV5aXZmYzZvMGF6
I’ll be cycling as part of a team, including Alice, in her latest fundraising event: a one-day bike ride from her home in Leicestershire to Norfolk (126 miles). My bike is nothing special; it gets me to the station on my journey to work and back along with all my clobber, so I will just have to see how much of the route I can cover before they send out a search party for me. In any event, this will be the furthest I have ridden on my bike since a crazy cider-and-brown-trout-fuelled escapade after sitting up all night watching the Olympic opening ceremony in 1984.
All donations will go to Hope Against Cancer, a Leicestershire-based charity which funds cancer research.
Thanks in advance for your help and support!
Tim x
