Story
On average one man every two hours takes his life in the UK. It’s often said to be a factor is that men don’t talk.
A few years ago a family friend took his own life because he was going through some tough times and didn't feel he could share this.
ANDYSMANCLUB are a men’s suicide prevention charity, offering free-to-attend peer-to-peer support groups across the United Kingdom and online. We want to end the stigma surrounding men’s mental health and help men through the power of conversation. #ITSOKAYTOTALK
If Andys Man Club had been around then, Marcus might still be with us.
I'm undertaking a very personal fell running challenge called the Newspaper Round. The name comes from the old joke: "What's black and white and red all over? A Newspaper!"
The run takes in all the Lake District summits (Birketts) with Black, White or Red in the name. It's about 130 miles (200 km) and 45,000ft (13,000m) of ascent. It will probably take me about 55 hours!
Along the way I'll have help from a super group of friends, and I've no doubt we'll have plenty of time to talk.
Please donate as much as you are able to - it all helps provide a space for those who really need to talk and feel supported.
