Story
I've always seen the West End as a magnet for homeless people, and I've always struggled to know what to do to support them. So I'm running the London Marathon for the Connection at St Martin-in-the-Fields. They are a great charity based in Trafalgar Square, supporting rough sleepers in the area.
I want your help to raise £2000, so
I'm looking for 40 amazing friends and family to donate about £50 each.
£50 is:
enough to cover a night in a hotel for someone who would otherwise be sleeping rough in London
20 meals for people who are hungry
A couple of chats with a keyworker - a first step in breaking the cycle of trauma and homelessness
Of course anything you can give helps.
The Connection say
In the UK, homelessness is at its highest in Westminster, this is where The Connection has been working for over 100 years. We believe that no one should be on the streets at any time of year.
We're here for people experiencing homelessness, every day. We get to know people, building lasting relationships as they recover from life on the streets and move on to fulfilling futures.
I've been trying to run the London Marathon for at least 15 years too, so I'm very grateful to them for giving me a place. And I appreciate that this could be seen as asking you to fund my hobby - but I hope more money will go to a good cause as a result.
