I have just started my training for The Great South Run on 19th October in Portsmouth in aid of my nominated local charity The Hunter Centre in Haslemere where I live . The Hunter Centre provides day care, companionship and stimulation for people living with a dementia diagnosis.

I am running in support of my father who is living with vascular dementia - his physical and mental abilities have declined but I am thankful for his ever present sense of humour, his infectious laughter and his enormous smile. I love him and he is still with me.

I work at Hindhead Place a beautiful brand new luxury care home in Hindhead Surrey and have chosen The Hunter Centre to be one of our nominated Charities. It is so important to give back to the community and those in need through personal and business connections. Hindhead Place is a Residential Care home with a floor dedicated to dementia care.

I am glad I can still run, I have my health, I am aware of the need to eat healthily and exercise regularly - every little bit may help prevent dementia - please give any amount you can to help those who weren't able to avoid the loss of memory, language, problem-solving and other thinking abilities that have been severe enough to effect their daily lives.
