Tinashe's fundraiser for Meningitis Research Foundation

Trek to Macchu Picchu 2025 · 27 August 2025
Hi,
My name is Tinashe Gumunyu, and I’m a fifth-year medical student at the Universities of Nottingham and Lincoln. In 2025, along with fellow students, I will be trekking to Machu Picchu to raise awareness and funds for the Meningitis Research Foundation (MRF).
Meningitis is a life-threatening illness that can kill within hours. It can strike anyone, anywhere, at any time. Each year, around 2.51 million people are affected, and approximately 236,000 lose their lives. Survivors often face lifelong physical and neurological challenges. The MRF, the World Health Organization (WHO) and international partners have developed a global roadmap to defeat meningitis by 2030.
Although I haven’t been personally affected by meningitis, through my medical studies, I’ve seen the profound impact it has on families. While I am not yet a practising doctor, I believe that by supporting organisations like the MRF, I can help improve the health of many more people than I could ever reach individually as a doctor. This cause allows me to make a broader, more meaningful difference in people's lives.
Every contribution, no matter the size, can make a significant impact. Together, we can help the MRF achieve its vision of a world free from meningitis and meningitis-related septicaemia by 2030. I kindly ask for your support in this crucial cause by donating and sharing this message with your network.
Donating through JustGiving is quick, easy, and secure. Your personal information is protected, and 100% of your donation goes directly to the charity, saving them both time and costs.
Thank you so much for your generosity and support.
Take care,
Tinashe
