On the 19th July 2024 we lost one our beautiful team to their battle with mental health.

Rasika Chomkwang, better known as Ras, was a bright light within the climbing community, with a passion for route setting, dynamic movement and always finding shortie beta.

She competed around the capital, making finals and podiums regularly, and always climbing with a smile on her face. She will be deeply missed by all that knew her.

Suicide is the biggest killer of people under 35 in the UK. Please look out for one another and know there is always support available and a way forward from whatever you are dealing with.

Climbing centres have long been a sanctuary for managing mental health, we are utterly devastated to have lost one of our own.

On the 17th August 2024 LCC are hosting an event at BethWall Climbing Centre to raise as much money as possible for the charity MIND, by doing so we hope that part of Ras’s legacy can be in helping other’s fight to find a another way out from the internal battles they face.

We encourage you to give what you can.

There will be lots of fun Ras-inspired climbing activities and a bouldering competition on the day. The event will run from 12 noon - 5pm. More details to follow on the BethWall Instagram account.
