To Wembley and Back - 600km Cycle Challenge
We fund care, campaigning and research to achieve a world free from MND

Story

Following the success of last year’s January marathon challenge, I wanted to kick off 2024 by fundraising and raising awareness for another important cause.

Earlier this year, I was lucky enough to meet Rob Burrow and his incredible family. After speaking to them about their situation, I felt inspired to take on a challenge for the MND Association to help more families in the UK. I also recently learnt that an old friend had received the diagnosis of MND which cemented my choice to take on a challenge at the start of the new year.

Throughout January, I will be cycling the distance between Hull Kingston Rover’s Craven Park Stadium and Wembley Stadium… and back - 600km in total (roughly 375 miles). Due to the time of year, I will be cycling most of this challenge at the gym.

I will be logging my journey on social media and on this JustGiving page too. Any donations would be greatly appreciated and support with raising awareness of MND.

With motor neurone disease, known as MND, messages from the motor neurones gradually stop reaching the muscles. This leads the muscles to weaken, stiffen and waste, which can affect how you walk, talk, eat, drink and breathe. Some people also get changes to their thinking and behaviour, but the disease affects everyone differently. Not all symptoms will affect everyone, or in the same order. Symptoms also progress at varying speeds, which makes the course of the disease difficult to predict.

MND is life-shortening and there is no cure. Although the disease will progress, symptoms can be managed to help achieve the best possible quality of life.

The MND Association focus on improving access to care, research and campaigning for those people living with or affected by MND in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
