As some of you may know, I’ll be running the London Marathon this April and raising money for Lupus UK—a charity very close to me. My Mum has been living with the autoimmune disease Systemic Lupus for many years and I have seen the impact that Lupus has had on her health and day to day life.

With Lupus, the immune system that protects against infection and illness, starts to then attack the body’s own tissues instead, and for the case of my Mum this has impacted her joints as well as her heart and lungs.

Lupus UK does incredible work in supporting people suffering from Lupus and raising awareness whilst also funding vital research, as there is currently no cure, and many of the medications used to treat Lupus, also come with their own impacting side effects.
