Story
On 26th April I’ll be running the London Marathon in memory of my mum, Helen.
Mum passed away from cancer in her 50s when I was 23. Those who knew her will know she was bloody great, caring, determined and a seriously good Mum. Losing her in my 20s reshaped my sense of what really matters in life, but it also made me more aware of the gap in support for young adults dealing with grief and the loss of a parent.
This is why I’ve decided to raise money for It’s Time, a small charity that supports young adults who have lost a parent, as well as the people and places around them who want to help but may not know how.
If you’re able to donate, thank you. It means a lot to me, and to every young person It’s Time will be able to support because of your generosity.
See you at the finish line x
Why It’s Time?
1 in 7 people will lose a parent by the age of 30.
When you lose a parent in early adulthood, you end up in a strange in-between space: you’re an adult, but not fully prepared for something that huge. It’s Time is working to change that by offering community, guidance and compassionate support at a time when it’s needed most.
How your donation helps
• £10 helps provide online grief resources for young people
• £30 helps fund peer-support services and community groups
• £50 helps provide free group therapy sessions
