Story

💜 In Aid of Claire House Children’s Hospice – In Honour of Our Little Miracle, Rosie 💜

Our journey took an unexpected turn at our 32-week growth scan when complications were first identified with our baby girl, Rosie. A follow-up consultation revealed further issues that hadn’t been previously picked up. We were referred to Liverpool Women’s Hospital on 2nd October 2024, where we received the overwhelming news:

• Part of Rosie’s brain hadn’t developed (absent corpus callosum)

• A dilation in her brain wasn’t draining properly

• My amniotic fluid was significantly reduced

• Rosie was growing below the 1st centile; her placenta wasn’t supporting her

• Her liver was enlarged

• Blood flow through the umbilical cord was restricted

• There were concerns about her heart that needed specialist review

We were overwhelmed and heartbroken. It was at this point we were introduced to Claire House.

Claire House stood with us as we faced impossible choices — being offered a termination, stillbirth, and end-of-life care. They gave us space to breathe, time to process, and reassurance we weren’t alone. We will never forget their compassion and gentle strength.

A specialist heart scan on 4th October 2024 brought more difficult news: Rosie had a hole in her heart and a malformation. With the risk of stillbirth rising, the team made the decision to deliver Rosie by emergency c-section the next day, earlier than expected.

On 5th October 2024, Rosie was born in her amniotic sac and taken straight to NICU. She faced immediate challenges — a collapsed lung needing drainage, and she was ventilated. But Rosie — our brave, beautiful girl — began to defy every odd.

Her heart, once thought to be malformed, appears to have mended itself. The drain was removed, and Rosie came off the ventilator and began breathing on her own. Though her brain still shows dilation and an absent CSP, she continues to grow, thrive, and amaze us every single day.

Rosie was later diagnosed with Mosaic Turner Syndrome with a ring chromosome.

Through every twist and turn, Claire House has been there — taking hand and foot imprints for keepsakes, offering emotional support, celebrating milestones, and helping us make precious memories that we’ll carry forever. Their continued care through baby groups and family events has brought joy and comfort when we needed it most.

We owe Claire House more than we can ever repay — but we hope, with your help, we can give something back.

💫 Please donate whatever you can to Claire House 💫

They help families like ours every single day — with love, grace, and the kind of support that truly changes lives. Every penny you give will help ensure they can continue this vital work for others facing the unimaginable.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts 💜
