Story
This December sadly marks 10 years since we lost Mum.
To acknowledge that milestone we’ve committed ourselves to 26.2 miles of (hopefully no) blood, (far too much) sweat, and (almost certainly some) tears by running the London Marathon to fundraise for Penny Brohn.
Penny Brohn holds a special place in our hearts due to the way they supported Mum through her second battle with Breast Cancer in 2014, and we’re thrilled that they’ve generously provided places for us both to run in 2025.
Mum enjoyed an active lifestyle, completing multiple sponsored walks for charity and was often recognised locally for her distinct speed walking style. It would be great to say we’ve inherited some of this pace, but our finish time in April will probably show we haven’t. Ultimately, we think running our first ever marathon is the perfect way to honour her memory.
We plan on running it together, so one of us is going to need to speed up, or the other will need to slow down… no clues on who.
We’re really looking forward to the day (a lot more than the training) and hope to see some of you along the route, or more importantly, at the pub afterwards for a well deserved beer.
We want Penny Brohn to be able to continue to support families the way they supported ours so are hugely grateful for any donation you can provide.

At Penny Brohn UK we support anyone affected by cancer.
Our holistic approach to helping people live well with cancer - The Bristol Whole Life Approach - gives anyone affected by cancer the practical, emotional and social support they need to improve their quality of life and to manage the fear and uncertainty that a cancer diagnosis may bring.
With your support we can provide more life changing support to people who need our help the most.
