⛰️🏃Tom's Highland Ultramarathon Fundraiser for NeoAngels ✨💕

⛰️ HIGHLAND ULTRA MARATHON 🏃
On 29th April 2025 I will embark on a self-sufficient 125km ultra-marathon race in the Scottish peninsula of Knoydart (Britain's last remaining wilderness) in aid of NeoAngels. This is a self-funded challenge with all proceeds going directly to my chosen charity, NeoAngels.
The event is 3 days of a coastal mountain ultra-marathon in a remote area of the West Highlands accessible only by sea or on foot. I will tackle plenty of ascents, scale rocky mountains separated by broad glens, rivers and high lochs in an 85 square mile area of rugged grandeur book-ended to the north and south by the vast sea lochs, Nevis and Hourn (Heaven and Hell). I will be carrying all of my own equipment including clothing, medical supplies, food and sleeping kit.
NeoAngels is a charity which supports families of sick and premature babies on the Neonatal Units at the University Hospitals of North Tees and James Cook in my hometown area. They offer an array of services to families including financial, emotional and bereavement support.
In March 2024, my close friend Harry Robson and his wife Megan had a scare during their pregnancy. At 26 weeks Megan was admitted into hospital with pre-eclampsia. At 27 weeks, Megan was rushed for an emergency C-section due to the onset of dangerously high blood pressure and failing kidneys. Their beautiful baby daughter Rosie was born on 19th March at 22:59pm weighing 2.4lbs. With Rosie being so fragile and with a hole in her lung she was placed on a ventilator, CPAP machine and high-flow breathing machine. Rosie spent a total of 62 days in hospital under the care of the Neonatal units until she was strong enough to be discharged and taken home (35 at James Cook, 27 at North Tees). Throughout this entire period, NeoAngels supported Harry and Megan with their wide range of services. I'm fully aware of how stressful this situation was for my friends and how thankful they are for what the charity did for their family.
After becoming a parent myself a few months prior to Harry and Megan, I am able to appreciate the importance of the work NeoAngels do. They are helping families every day with their services, and I want to help them continue to do so. You can read more about this amazing charity here;
