Tom's fundraiser for CRESS

Tom Clarke is raising money for CRESS

Cologne Marathon · 5 October 2025

CRESS wants to provide the South Sudanese refugees in Northern Uganda with the range of education, knowledge and vocational skills required to enable them to form self-sufficient, sustainable and ethical communities that do not require Western aid.

Story

I am sitting on my 10th wedding anniversary trying to explain to Charlotte why running 50km this weekend is a good idea… it seems that ‘headspace’ isn’t a legitimate reason - perhaps running for a charity very close to my heart is.

My Aunt Caroline set up CRESS and has built it into an amazing organisation helping some of the most vulnerable people on Earth. CRESS works tirelessly to try and improve the lot of Southern Sudanese displaced from their country by civil war in refugee camps in Northern Uganda.

The money raised by this jaunt around Cologne will go to funding the salaries of Community Project Facilitators who will help grass-root development of agriculture and micro finance support.

I hope to raise £2000 to support the work of at least three such individuals for a year. Please help so I can tell Charlotte it is all worth it!

Thank you in advance

Tom
