Alder Hey Children's Charity takes on London Marathon 2026

Story

Hello! Thank you for clicking on and taking the time to read.

In April 2026, I'm going to be running the London Marathon for Alder Hey Children's Charity and trying to raise a whopping £2,750 in the process.

It's an honour to be picked to represent Alder Hey. It's a cause incredibly close to my own heart - and even closer to my own legs.

Back in 2001, when I was a tiny little ginger boy, I was walking downstairs when my leg suddenly gave way - it was agonising, and something was wrong. After being ferried around to various hospitals looking for an answer, I ended up at Alder Hey in Liverpool where I was diagnosed with a bone cyst in my left tibia.

Whilst at Alder Hey, I was cared for, operated on, and given more x-rays than most people have in a lifetime. I received amazing treatment, and after spending a year in a wheelchair, I was able to keep both legs (in spite of amputation being a very potential outcome) and eventually walk — and run — again.

I honestly wouldn’t be where I am today without them and the work they do makes such a difference to so many young people. Running the London Marathon for Alder Hey feels like the ultimate full-circle moment. It’s a chance to hopefully give something back and help other children get the same life-changing support that I did.

Thank you for reading, thank you for any support whatsoever, and thank you to Alder Hey - I will always be grateful.
