Ronald McDonald House Charities UK is an independent charity providing free 'home away from home’ accommodation for families with children in hospital. Thanks to your donations, we are able to provide up to 530 families with accommodation each night so they can be together no matter what.

Story

Hello, I'm Tom, and I am honoured to serve as the Vice President of our university's dedicated society that supports the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC). Over the past two years, I have had the privilege of being part of an incredible journey, working alongside a passionate team, and discovering the profound impact RMHC has on the lives of families facing challenging times.

Founded on the belief that families are stronger when they are together, RMHC provides comfortable and affordable accommodations near hospitals, allowing parents to stay close to their hospitalized children. With a network of local chapters worldwide, RMHC also offers essential resources like meals, education, and emotional support to ease the burdens families face during difficult times.

Our Journey:

RMHC is an organization close to my heart because it serves a beautiful purpose - providing a home away from home for families with seriously ill children. Witnessing the impact RMHC has on these families has inspired me to do more, to give more, and to help them find a glimmer of hope during their challenging times. I believe that every family facing such adversity deserves a safe and comforting place to stay.

Our Initiative:

This year, I am excited to share our upcoming initiative that brings together the university society I represent and our university's boat club. We've embarked on a month-long fundraiser where our goal is to row, run and cycle a combined distance of 6, 654 kilometres. Why this particular number? Because it signifies the number of families that RMHC houses supported across the UK in 2022. It is a symbol of the countless lives touched by this charity, and we want to do our part in supporting their mission.

Our Goal:

Our mission is simple yet profound: we want to make a tangible difference in the lives of those families who rely on RMHC. By rowing this distance, we aim to raise both awareness and funds for this remarkable charity. Your contribution can help us reach our target and ensure that more families can find respite and support in their times of need.

How You Can Help:

We are seeking your support, whether it's through donations, spreading the word, or joining us in this incredible endeavour. Every little bit counts, and together, we can create a ripple effect of positivity for countless families.

Join us on this incredible journey of rowing for families. Together, we can help RMHC continue its vital work, providing comfort, hope, and healing to those who need it the most. Your support, no matter how big or small, can make a significant impact on the lives of these families. Let's row, let's fundraise, and most importantly, let's make a difference.

Thank you for being a part of this meaningful cause. Together, we can row for families and row toward a brighter future.

On the 14th of November, we will host a grand event at the Student Union to give our final push in raising funds for RMHC. We hope that our combined efforts, energy, and passion will inspire our fellow students and community members to contribute to this noble cause. Together, we can make a difference.
