Tom Doherty is raising money for Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 ·

At Bluebell Wood, we care for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions. We support hundreds of families, both in our hospice and in family homes. It costs around £6.5m to keep our doors open for families across South Yorkshire and beyond. We receive 16% Statutory funding.

Story

In early 2023 I received the devastating news no one wants to hear; ‘you have cancer’. This led to a big operation and undergoing a years worth of treatment at Weston park.

Luckily for me I survived my diagnosis and came through the other side. Amazing charities and foundations, such as Bluebell, provide invaluable help and support to families and other patients like myself, in particularly dark and difficult times.

It is for this reason I have chosen to run the London marathon and fundraise for all the amazing people who work and volunteer here, and all of the children and families they support.

Nobody deserve’s to go through illness and difficult times especially young children!

Bluebell wood support babies, young children and young people who have life limiting conditions and a terminal diagnosis.

They support hundreds of families both in the hospice and at family homes. It’s costs a whopping £6.5 MILLION to keep the doors open for families across South Yorkshire and beyond. Statutory funding only makes up 16% of this the rest comes from fundraising so it’s so important to raise as much money as possible for such a wonderful charity!

Anything people can donate no matter how little or large is greatly appreciated!
