Story

On Sunday 10th March, I will be challenging myself by doing a Skydive from 10,000 feet to raise money for Muscular Dystrophy UK.

Muscular Dystrophy UK is the charity for 111,000 people living with muscle-wasting conditions. They are making a difference today, providing vital information and support to help people live as independently as possible. They are making a difference for tomorrow, accelerating progress in research and driving the campaign for access to emerging treatments.

Muscular Dystrophy is a cause of great significance to me. Tom Kelly, a close friend for as long as I can recount, was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy just before we both turned six.

By the time Tom was 10, he was in a wheelchair full-time.

Shortly thereafter, Tom began playing powerchair football, a sport in which he has shown much talent. In 2022, Tom was selected to play for England's development team at the Home Nations Cup in Northern Ireland and was a part of the Aspire team that won the 2023 Disability Cup shown on BT Sport.

Despite his condition, the strength that Tom has shown and the friend that he continues to be after all these years is admirable; and has always proved the better sportsman of the two of us!!
