Tom's 2025 Bike Ride for Nottinghamshire Historic Churches Trust

Tom Fremantle is raising money for Nottinghamshire Historic Churches Trust
“The 2025 Sponsored Bike Ride”

on 13 September 2025

The NHCT Sponsored Ride and Stride takes place every year on the second Saturday in September and involves churches in chapels in the county who open doors for visitors who travel from place to place by cycling. It raises money which are used to help fund essential repairs to buildings of worship.

Story

I have asked friends and family to support this cause for several years past. Our core bike riding team is down to three of the group that set off in 1987 - in the picture Mark is on the left, Christopher in the centre in front of me , and Alice on the extreme right - it was WET!

In the last two years three of us have raised more money than any other church in Nottinghamshire, and, of course, we are hoping to do the same again.

All being well and providing it is not tipping with rain I aim to visit between 10 and 20 churches and cover 30 to 40 miles - not a massive distance but hopefully achievable. Any donation you are able to offer will be put to good use. The Trust will, as usual, keep half and send the other half back to East Markham. We still need a new covering on the chancel roof and we are looking at an ambitious plan to make the church more accessible, with improved heating and better seating.

Any amount you are able to spare for this cause will be most gratefully received and will, of course, spur me on to go a decent distance.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
