Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On Saturday 14th June I'll be taking part in the Montane Summer Spine Sprint South, a 46mile non-stop race from Edale to Hebden Bridge. This will be my first ultra-marathon since I suffered multiple back and rib fractures in a fall in the summer of 2023. Its been a long road to full(ish) recovery and this race has been my goal for the last 12 months!
I've decided to use my run to help Kinder Mountain Rescue Team (KMRT). I've spent quite a lot of time running on Kinder Scout in the last few months as part of my training so it seemed right to lend them my support with a bit of sponsorship (and I might need them myself one day!). Based in Hayfield, KMRT is run entirely by volunteers and financed through donations and fundraising. The team help injured and lost people (walkers, fell-runners, mountain bikers, DofE participants, horseriders etc) in the hills around Kinder Scout. They also assist with lowland and urban searches for missing/vulnerable people and assist the other emergency services when requested. It costs approx £50,000.00 a year to run the team, so every little helps!
