Tom Hudson Memorial Tournament for York City Fc Foundation

Football Tournament · 19 July 2025
We were all incredibly saddened to hear of the passing of our good friend Tom Hudson last year.
A few of us wanted to do something to honour Tom's memory, and we thought given how Tom was always the first to do things for others, we would organise a football tournament in Tom's memory, to raise money for the two charities that Tom held dear, the York City FC Foundation, and the Cat's Protection (York Branch!).
The tournament details are below. We have set up this fundraising page for anybody who is not able to play, but would like to donate some money in Tom's memory. The overall total money donated will be divided equally between the York City FC Foundation and the Cats Protection as detailed above.
Tournament details:
(Venue Change) The tournament will be held at the 6 a side pitches at the Huntington School Astro Turf on Saturday 19th July, from 11am to 4pm.
The format of the tournament, and number and duration of matches will be determined by how many teams/people sign up to play. The proposed plan is if we can get 8 teams, then all teams play each other once in 7.5 minute each way matches, then progressing to quarter finals based on final league position, then semis and a final (so minimum of 8 x 15 minutes games, maximum of 10 games). If we get more teams or less teams then we will adjust the format accordingly. It will be rolling subs so suggest a squad of 6 to 8.
We would love to raise as much money as possible in Tom's memory for his two charities. The cost for playing in the tournament will be £20pp, with all proceeds being divided equally between the two charities less the cost of the pitch hire.
Everybody who knew Tom is welcome to sign up to play.
We are hoping to go for a few beers afterwards at the Huntington Working Men's Club also.
