Story
As we have just passed what would have been George's 30th birthday, this is a good sport based, get active fundraiser that we can all get involved in!
The challenge requires each individual to complete a cumulative total of 80 miles each during September! This can be from swimming, cycling, running and walking.
Those from Plymouth Cricket Club currently taking part are:
Alex Hill, Jack Hughes, Harry Stephenson, Seth Stephenson, Libby Chapman-Lane, Sam Stein, Sam Knapman, Jonny Varcoe, Richard Goldsby-West, Ted Haffenden, Chrissie Haffenden, Peter Evans, Gareth Hayward, Paul Jones, Harry Jones, The Fearon family (Jim, Vicky and Jack), The Westlake family, Sam White and Tom Hughes.
Young cancer patients face an 80 mile round trip, on average, to get treatment. This isn't by choice. Many young cancer patients have to travel to specialist cancer centres to get the care they need, they can't just go to their local hospital. Not only is this physically and emotionally exhausting, it comes it a huge financial cost too. It costs £250 a month when treatment is at its most intense. As treatment can go on for years, young people and families are often plunged into debt. This Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, we're asking our supporters to take on Challenge80 and raise money to support young people with cancer.
