Story
In April 2026, we will be stepping out of our comfort zone and taking on the challenge of running the London Landmarks Half Marathon for a special cause that is very close to our hearts.
This charity is dear to our hearts following our own personal experience of using their services, and we have decided to share our story in the hopes of raising awareness and starting more conversations around baby loss. Unfortunately, our journey to starting a family began with with losses. Following our first 3 miscarriages, we began NHS testing to consider possible causes, around 50% of people have no answer for their losses so we were not expecting much from this. However, Kerry's blood tests and follow up tests revealed she has Antiphospholid Syndrome (APS), an autoimmune disease that causes small blood clots which impacts pregnancy due to impeding blood flow to the baby. For us this led to medicine in our next pregnancy which supported the growth of our rainbow baby, Arthur, who was also one of a twin we sadly lost.
Unfortunately, this condition will now continue to impact us if we decide to extend our family more, as without treatment it puts our chances of loss at 90%, and with treatment this figure reduces to around 50%. This is a scary and triggering prospect and will always overshadow any normal excitement of having a baby for us. So this is why support from Holding Hearts is so important as it is so needed to ensure that there is support for any families going through this experience and to give the families going through pregnancy after loss a small piece of reassurance that there is something that can support them in that awful moment, whether it be from the card that protects the precious scan picture, the baby loss books, or memorial hearts ❤️💙
By running this half marathon, we want to honour the little ones we couldn’t bring home, raise awareness of baby loss, and give back to Holding Hearts so they can continue to help others walking this difficult path.
Every donation, no matter how small, will make a difference in supporting families through loss and keeping memories of our babies alive.
Thank you so much for your support – it means the world. 💙💗
