BMX skate park challenge

Motor Neurone Disease moves fast. It takes away time, it takes away independence and it has no cure. Every day we support people affected by MND. We fund ground-breaking research. We campaign for better care. We’re here for everyone who needs us. Because with MND, every day matters.

Story

I’m Tom Leaver, a professional BMX rider. In September 2020, my dad was diagnosed with motor-neurone disease and since then I have watched the man I know and love slowly to deteriorate and be taken away from us.

For all of you who don’t know what motor neurone disease is, it’s a disease that basically eats away at your muscles and affects the brain. It’s not known what causes it and everyone is affected differently.

Dad now has dementia as part of the disease’s progression. He is unable to talk anymore, can’t eat or drink normally and now his mind is scrambled. This has been the hardest point so far, but he is still with us today and that’s why I want to do something memorable and to raise money and awareness for such a cruel disease. Something that Dad will remember too. This is an awesome charity the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

We will be filming the whole process and uploading a video of it all showcasing every flip.
