Climbing for a Cause: Supporting AuDHD UK
As a parent to a young child diagnosed with autism, I’ve come to understand the unique challenges they face, not just in early development, but throughout life. Navigating a world that may be unfamiliar with neurodiversity and the extra support, compassion, and resources required.
One statistic shook me to my core: up to 66% of people with autism & ADHD have considered suicide, and up to 36% have attempted it. These numbers are heart-breaking and highlight the urgent need for change/raised awareness.
That’s why I’m supporting AuDHD UK, a charity dedicated to ending autism and ADHD-related suicides in the UK. They help fund adult assessments, diagnoses, therapy, and ongoing support — services that can be life-changing and, potentially life-saving.
To raise awareness and funds, I’ll be climbing a Welsh mountain with a 600-meter peak. It might not sound extreme, but for an overweight man with not the best health such as me, it’s a real challenge.
I would really appreciate any donations If you’re able to, no matter the amount. I'm sure this would mean even more to those who benefit from AuDHD UK's incredible work.
Thank you for your support!
**Update: Thanks to everyone for their generosity/donations. After an incredibly difficult climb we successfully reached the mountain peak yesterday!
I'm sure the leg aches will act as a reminder for the achievement for the next couple of days...
