Story
On Sunday 19th April I will be taking on the Norfolk Marathon…seemed like a really good idea when I booked this last year!!
I’m taking this big challenge on (as someone who really isn’t much of a runner) for a couple of reasons:
1 – as a single father of two young kids I think its really important to show them both that life is often about stepping out of your comfort zone and rising up to a challenge. If you put your mind to something and are willing to put the effort in nothing is impossible
2 – it’s a really good chance to earn a meaningful amount of money for a charity, in this case my charity of choice is Alzheimer’s Society.
Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading dementia charity. They give vital support to those who need it, fund groundbreaking research, and campaign to improve experiences. It’s a charity that I hold extremely close to my heart; in 2025 both my Nan and Grandad were diagnosed with Dementia, a condition which affects individual’s memory, their personality and ultimately their ability to function daily tasks. Its an extremely aggressive disease which has no care or consideration for either the individual, or their family. The last year has been extremely challenging, to see both of my grandparents suffer, and change in their behaviours, actions and personalities, but the hardest part is the realisation that as their condition worsens they will ultimately lose their memory leading to them forgetting family members, and each other.
Alzheimer’s Society works tirelessly in their attempt to fight the affects of Alezhiemers and Dementia, with research and hard work. They have invested over £124m into dementia research since 1989!
I’m asking for people’s support to help me raise money for this wonderful charity. My JustGiving link is below, and I would really appreciate any donations people can afford.
