I'm proud to be joining Team Sarcoma in the Brighton Marathon 2025

New York City Marathon 2024 · 3 November 2024 ·
Last year I ran the London Marathon, and swore I would never run again..
But i'm going to run again to raise as much money as I can for one of the best charities going. Sarcoma UK has helped so many people, including people I know and love, navigate not just this difficult, hard to diagnose cancer but all the anxiety and fear that fills the spaces between tests and diagnosis.
Twenty years ago, when my auntie Vicky was diagnosed with leiomyosarcoma , very little was known about this form of soft tissue cancer. Small charities like Sarcoma UK have made a huge difference in creating awareness, providing help and support for individuals and in funding research projects.
Just last year, my sister in law went through months of testing and scans, bringing with it uncertainty and anxiety.. she said:
"Sarcoma UK are a brilliant charity and I’ve experienced their support first hand. In 2023 I discovered a lump in my abdomen which after many tests was diagnosed as a benign tumour in the sarcoma family.
Sarcoma UK were amazing at helping me navigate the phase of uncertainty before my diagnosis. The support offered through their helpline, which is staffed by experienced nurses was invaluable and they were incredible advocates for me when I was getting very little information from doctors between tests.
It’s amazing that smaller charities like this exist to offer specialist support in this under researched area. Sarcoma is difficult to diagnose and one of the hardest to treat."
By supporting Sarcoma UK, we can help change this. Your donation will help researchers find answers, keep the specialist Support Line open, and raise awareness to improve treatment and standards of care.
Your donations go so far in helping the sarcoma community:
£1 could cover the cost of 10 texts to the support line.
£10 could be used to buy microscope slides to look at cells in minute detail.
£30 could fund one hour of use of a high-powered laboratory microscope.
£150 could fund the support line for a week.
