Story
On 18 April I will combine two of my passions: trail running, and the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. I’m taking part in the "Marreg" - a 53 mile trail race that goes over the Preseli Hills, through ancient woodland and along the coast path.
Running in the National Park is when I feel most alive, and at my most relaxed – that's a winning combination! The photo was taken on a recce I did of some of the course a couple of weeks ago…. it captures the beauty of the Park better than I can put into words. At this point of the course….I’ll have 7 miles left to the finish…just the other side of that hill in the distance…
Because of my love of the National Park, I recently became a volunteer Trustee of the Pembrokeshire Coast Trust. The Trust’s mission is to protect and enhance the National Park’s natural beauty, biodiversity, and cultural heritage, and to enable all people (irrespective of age or background) to experience and enjoy the magical and inspiring landscape for generations to come. I’d like to use my run to help raise funds for the Trust to support that worthy mission. I’m sure that all contributions will be put to very good use.
The lawyer in me feels that I must make it very clear that I have no conflict of interest in raising funds for a Trust of which I am a Trustee… I am a volunteer Trustee who receives no remuneration or compensation beyond the in-kind benefit of the personal satisfaction of doing something that makes me happy 😊.
Thank you and be well!
Tom
