Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have applied to run the London marathon for the MS society and have to raise a total of £2500 in order to qualify for the space. If I am not successful in getting this space, I will be running the Leeds marathon and the proceeds will still be donated to the MS Society, a charity close to our hearts.
As many of you will know, my mother in law sadly passed away in February just aged 56 after a 13 year battle with Primary Progressive MS. Whilst she lived a full life, she was confined to a wheelchair and paralysed from the chest down just 5 years after being diagnosed. We have seen first hand how devastating this illness can be. In the end Nicola spent her last 4 months in hospital- she first went in due to sepsis being caused by infection in pressure sores due to being in a wheelchair all the time, she then developed pneumonia and required a ventilator to breathe. MS took away her ability to eat, swallow, communicate and breathe. These are just some of the complications that many people will not know are associated with MS. It has been heartbreaking to watch Nicola and our family go through this. MS Society do amazing things to provide care and support the individuals and their families and also conduct life changing research. There is currently no known cure.
