Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I’m taking on this challenge to raise money and awareness for Angelman syndrome, a cause that is incredibly close to me and my family. My older brother, Oliver, has Angelman syndrome, so it has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up alongside him has given me a personal understanding of the challenges faced by people with Angelman syndrome, as well as the dedication and support that families provide every day. Angelman syndrome is a rare genetic condition that affects the nervous system, causing significant difficulties with speech, movement and learning. Most people with Angelman syndrome require lifelong support. By taking on this challenge, I want to turn something personally meaningful into an opportunity to make a difference — raising awareness of Angelman syndrome and supporting the individuals and families whose lives are affected by it. Every donation, no matter the size, will make the kilometres walked and the difficult days along the trail worthwhile.
The Lycian Way hike starts in Oludeniz and ends in Antalya. This walk is about 540km with 25,000 metres of total ascent with an average of 700 metres of daily incline and decline. I am to complete this walk in 25 days whilst solo hiking in the wild, starting on the 22nd of October
If you haven't already, please follow my Instagram @tomwild.lycianway where you can find frequent updates that I upload during the walk.
Please consider donating, and if you can't, just spreading the word would be greatly appreciated!
