Story
CAP has reached an incredible milestone of 30 years partnering with the church to bring transformation to the lives of those trapped in debt and poverty. People needing CAP's help find dignity, hope for the future, along with the warmth of a Christian community. In those 30 years this service and care has seen over 35,000 released from the bonds of debt!
The Church plays a huge role in bringing people into that community, and my Church of St Margaret's, Ilkley has enabled me to grow into the person I am today, and share God's Word with confidence. Worshipping at this Church brings people together with that strong sense of community that we all long for.
After 30 years the need is still very real for CAP as it's called to serve those who find themselves most vulnerable in our current environment. Further, St Margaret's Church continues to share the Gospel actively, with grace, to all who walk through the door, having done so for 147 years. Both these missions continue through the kindness and support of others, people coming together to proclaim the Gospel, and share the love and grace of Jesus.
And so, on the 19th September, we will run 60km from Bradford to Blackburn to celebrate the last 30 years and look forward to 30. We will go this long distance step by step, just as our CAP goes step by step with those who desperately need a hand up and out of debt, and just as the local church journeys with people step by step on their journey of faith in Christ.
I'd love to raise over £147 for the Parish of St. Margaret's, Ilkley in perfect time for its Dedication Festival, celebrating 147 of faithful service to the Ilkley community.
Just as CAP and the local church each play a role in brining people to Christ.
