Great North Run 2026 · 13 September 2026 · Start fundraising for this event

We’re Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), and we’re a suicide prevention charity. We host a helpline for people affected by suicide, as well as vital online resources for anyone who needs them.

Story

UPDATE: Unfortunately I am no longer able to compete in the 2026 Great North Run. However, I have VERY LAST MINUTE signed up to be part of the Great North 10K on Sunday, July 5th 2026. I have lowered the target, but if we don't hit it then I'll still be glad to raise any money for the incredible work that CALM do.

Thank you so much for your generosity so far! It's been greatly appreciated!

Here we go again...again!

In 2024 I completed my first ever Great North Run. In 2025 I did it again (and in under three hours) I've well and truly got the running bug so we're back on the road to my third Great North Run (which I'm aiming to complete in under two and a half hours this year!)

I want to use this as a chance to raise money for a really special cause. The Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) are a suicide prevention charity. They have tools and resources to help people find the support they need, including a life-saving helpline for people who can’t see a way forward, have lost someone to suicide, or are worried about their friends or loved ones.

Recent government reports show that some of the highest suicide rates come from men in the North East of England in their 40s. As a man in his 40s living in the North East I'm proud to run for CALM - and for those who can't - in hopes that one day we can see these statistics change for the better.
