We provide support packs to bereaved families affected by the loss/death of a baby. Packs contain a range of resources to help support even the youngest of family members through their grief. We aim to provide comfort and guidance during this difficult time and help families feel less alone.

Story

Tommy and I have signed up to run the Edinburgh Half Marathon in aid of Edison’s Light.

Edison’s Light provide sibling support packs to families who have experienced the loss of a child through miscarriage, TFMR, stillbirth and neonatal death. Please read more about the story of Edison’s Light below.

(Unfortunately due to injury, I (Lil) can no longer run the half marathon, however I’ve signed up to run the 10km. It will be a challenge for my body but I couldn’t sit and not put myself through a little pain and discomfort which doesn’t compare to the pain and heartache the families supported by this amazing charity experience!)

Story of Edison’s Light:

Edison's Light began with the birth of our son, Edison, on September 26th, 2022. Born prematurely at 27 weeks with Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia, he fought bravely but sadly passed away less than 24 hours later. His loss was incredibly heartbreaking, and telling his older brother, was the second most difficult moment we’ve ever faced. Conner had eagerly anticipated Edison's arrival and had to navigate the complex emotions of grief at such a young age. Struggling to find resources for sibling support, we decided to create sibling support packs for families affected by miscarriage, TFMR, stillbirth and neonatal death.

These packs, provided to hospitals, offer crucial support during challenging times. Each pack includes a bear and resources to aid children through their grief, along with a selection of books for families to choose from based on their unique circumstances.

While we never wish for families to need these packs, we hope they provide some comfort in their time of need.

In early 2023, Edison's Light officially became a registered charity.

In addition to our existing initiative of providing sibling support packs, we are looking to expand our support services. We aim to introduce support drop-in sessions, focusing on alleviating the loneliness that often accompanies the grief of losing a baby.

Through these sessions, we hope to create a supportive community where individuals can find solace, understanding, and companionship during challenging times. Your continued support makes these endeavors possible, and we look forward to making a meaningful impact together.
