My wife Amy and I had a beautiful daughter in 2022, we were blissfully unaware of the very real possibility of miscarriage and the difficulties of having children. We consider ourselves very lucky. It was only when we started trying for our 2nd that things started unravelling a little, unfortunately due to differing reasons the unthinkable happened and my wife had her 1st miscarriage.. unfortunately we had very little support from our local hospital, and my wife went on to have 2 further miscarriages, we honestly thought we would never have another child, and considered ourselves blessed that we had our daughter 2 years previously. Perseverance, a lot of heartache later and a after a lot of dark worried days we finally welcomed our beautiful son George into the world who is now 7 weeks old, something we honestly started to believe would never happen.

Whilst I enjoy running, this is not about running really for me, this is about making an unspoken issue a common topic, ensuring it gets the visibility it deserves and doesn't sit under its still dark umbrella even in todays world. Its an issue that eats away at you, changes lives, creates anxiety that is so uncontrollable. Anything we can do to alter that direction and narrative into the future is so important, our money will help research that will reduce the risk of these awful and such real events into the future.

This is an issue which is so common, and yet so rarely spoken about. Talking about our experiences, led to us hearing of others with similar journeys. This issue affects so many, and is honestly life altering, anything we can do to help raise money, awareness and support research could change lives, we hope to make it easier for others to feel seen, heard, and supported.

Olly is a very good friend of mine, I was lucky enough to meet him when he met his wife, a friend of mine from University who shared a house with my wife through their years at Leeds University and have remained the best of friends since. I will be Olly's Yorkshire runner, my event will be the Leeds marathon - taking us back to where it all began! That being said I will be supporting him on a number of legs across the UK as an avid supporter of a cause that means so much to us.
