Story

On 29th August, my good friend Phil Bunn and I will be setting off on cycling challenge from London to Paris, following the beautiful Avenue Verte route.

Our journey begins at the London Eye early on Saturday morning and, if all goes to plan, will finish in front of the Notre-Dame Cathedral on Monday 31st August. We’ll cover approximately 400 kilometres, travelling via the scenic Western Epte Valley including crossing the Channel on the Newhaven to Dieppe ferry.

While this is one of Europe’s classic cycling routes and I’m sure the scenery (and the company!) will make the miles more enjoyable, I’m taking on this challenge for a cause that means so much to me.

In 2020, our family lost our incredible Mum after her courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She faced years of treatment with extraordinary strength, enduring countless hospital visits, major surgery, and living with a stoma, yet she never allowed cancer to define her. She remained an exceptionally talented businesswoman and, above all, the most generous, kind, selfless and loving mum anyone could wish for.

Cancer took her from us far too soon, leaving a hole in our family that can never truly be filled. She inspired everyone who knew her with her resilience, positivity and unconditional love, and I can’t think of a better reason to push myself through every kilometre of this ride.

Cancer affects far too many families. Every breakthrough in research brings us one step closer to better treatments, improved quality of life and, ultimately, a cure. That’s why I’m proud to be supporting Cancer Research UK.

If you’re able to sponsor me, no matter how big or small the donation, I would be incredibly grateful. Every pound really does make a difference. And if you’re not in a position to donate, please consider dropping a few spare coins into a charity collection tin the next time you’re in a supermarket or shopping centre. Every contribution helps.

You’ll also be able to follow our progress throughout the ride on Strava Live.

Thank you so much for your support.
