Story

On the morning of Saturday 28th June 2025 I'll be arriving in the idyllic market town of Bakewell, in the Derbyshire Dales, to take on the Peak District Ultra Challenge.

The aim? To hike 100km (or 62.1 miles for those who prefer it in this metric!) in a huge figure of eight loop starting and ending in Bakewell around the southern Peak District.

And if that isn't enough, I've got a 24 hour window.

It's a continuous clock, so I'll have 100km, around 2,150 metres of elevation and a time limit to complete it in! It'll mean trekking through a variety of terrain, up hills, down hills, through tiredness and fatigue, sun (or rain?) and darkness to complete the goal. You can read up on the challenge here:

And I'm doing it all to raise money for Macmillan. I've raised money for Macmillan before through their "mighty hikes" and it is an honour to do so every time for the outstanding and compassionate work that Macmillan do.

Macmillan gives people with cancer everything they’ve got. If you’re diagnosed, your worries are Macmillan’s worries. Macmillan provide services for people living with cancer at every stage of their cancer experience. Macmillan provide emotional, practical, physical, and financial support.

Macmillan is doing whatever it takes.

But without your help, Macmillan can’t support everyone who needs them. If you can donate please do with all funds going directly to MacMillan.

And leave the hiking down to me.

Thank you as ever,

Tom x
