Story
Zambia is facing its worst drought in 20 years, severely impacting communities, including Simonga village where many of our children live.
Water sources are drying up, forcing children to walk even further just to collect water. With agriculture struggling, short-term jobs that some families rely on have become scarcer, making daily life even harder.
At Tujatane, we are feeling the strain. Power outages lasting up to 21 hours a day have affected our water pump, leaving the school without water and forcing us to send children home early. These power cuts also impact the homes of our dedicated teachers who live on-site.
These challenges are disrupting the children's education, threatening to undo the progress they’ve fought so hard to achieve since the hardships of the COVID-19 pandemic.
That’s why we need your help.
We are raising funds to convert our water pump to work on both solar and electricity. This change will ensure that the Tujatane children always have access to water at school.
We also want to improve our solar power across the school, so we can rely 100% on solar power, no matter how long the power outages last. This will allow us to not only sustainably continue to power essential services—like lights, computers, and classrooms—but will also provide a stable learning environment for our students, helping them thrive amid current challenges and well into the future.
Every donation, big or small, will make a meaningful impact. Your contribution will help us secure sustainable water and power solutions, helping us to build brighter futures for every child in our care.
Thank you for your generosity and continued support. We are so grateful for the love and support of sponsors and supporters like you from all over the world.
