At Better Tomorrow Trust, our mission is to empower and uplift individuals and communities facing challenges due to youth, old age, ill health, disability, financial hardship, or other forms of social and economic disadvantage. Through the provision of targeted grants to registered charities and organisations, we aim to foster meaningful change, alleviate hardship, and promote dignity, opportunity, and well-being creating better tomorrows for those in need.

Story

I will be running the London Marathon on April 27th for The Better Tomorrow Trust. As a trustee of the charity this is very close to my heart and all proceeds will then be donated to Sarcoma UK as a grant from the Charity.

This will be in memory of my father-in-law, David Dean, who sadly passed away nearly three years ago. In 2019, David , was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive osteoblastic osteosarcoma of the rib. He underwent multiple surgeries to remove tumour and subsequently reconstruct his rib cage. He required extensive physiotherapy following a muscle graft from the thigh, both preventative and palliative chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Despite his determination to overcome the odds and achieve remission, he sadly continued to relapse. Devastatingly, he lost his life to this horrible disease in 2022 at just 69 years old.

David was a true gentleman, kind, considerate, hard working and brave. He was always thought of with such high regard by all who knew him, both professionally and personally. He was a devoted husband, an adored father, a wonderful grandad, brother, colleague and friend. He is missed immeasurably.

Sarcoma UK is a national charity that funds vital research and offers information and support to anyone affected by the disease.

Sarcoma is a type of cancer that can appear anywhere in the body. Every day, 15 people in the UK are newly diagnosed with Sarcoma, be that soft tissue or bone in origin. To have a dedicated charity accessible to those affected can make a huge difference when faced with such an overwhelming and frankly terrifying diagnosis.

We hope in time, Sarcoma UK can prompt timely diagnosis, revolutionise treatment and ultimately establish a cure for this cruel disease, preventing others having to endure such a bleak and discouraging diagnosis and prognosis. Any donation will be greatly appreciated to help Sarcoma UK in their efforts to support all those affected.
