Story
Thanks for looking at my JustGiving page.
I'm gearing up to take on the challenge of cycling the length of Great Britain, from the south-western most point in Cornwall (Land's End) to the north-eastern most point in Scotland (John o' Groats) in support of Tearfund’s vital work.
On 31 May 2025, I'll be hitting the road on my e-bike, aiming to cover about 1000 miles over three weeks to raise funds to help those affected by poverty and injustice around the world. Every penny counts, and your support will make a real difference.
Please follow me on my blog which I will be updating daily.
Why? Probably a delayed mid-life crisis!
Why an e-bike? Because I probably could not do it on a normal bike, especially with my dodgy hips and knees. It's a solo trip and I will be carrying everything I need. The e-bike gives pedal assistance to help with the load and the hills, but comes with it's own challenges (range, charging, weight etc.).
Why in June? Longer days, not too hot and fewer midges in Scotland (apparently)!
Why Tearfund? I have worked for Tearfund for 26 years and I think it is a fantastic organisation.
Thousands of people needlessly suffer and die every day because of poverty. But that’s not God’s plan for the world. We believe that we can all play a part in ending extreme poverty and injustice by reaching out to people in need.
For more than 50 years, Tearfund has partnered with local churches and organisations around the world, equipping people to lift themselves out of poverty and fulfil their God-given potential.
Poverty is not God’s plan. You are.
