Great North Run 2025 · 7 September 2025 · Start fundraising for this event

Our team of dedicated runners are taking on the challenge of completing the worlds biggest half marathon on 7th September. Every step they take will bring us closer to ensuring no one has to rebuild their lives alone following catastrophic injury.

Story

In 2024, my life was paused when I was involved in a serious cycling accident. I was hit by an HGV whilst cycling, causing multiple fractures and a brain injury. While my physical injuries are improving, I am still working hard with the support of an incredible team to recover fully from the brain injury.

What made a huge difference during this time was the support we received from Day One. From the moment of the accident, a case worker was there to guide us through the confusion and stress, helping us access the right resources for my recovery and supporting my family in ways we didn’t even know we needed. Their help was essential during those early, challenging days.

Day One is a charity that receives no NHS or government funding, which is why your support is so important. Every penny raised will make a huge difference to people affected by life altering injuries, just like me. That’s why Vicky, Ruth, and I are ‘running’ the Great North Run in 2025 – to raise awareness and funds for Day One, ensuring they can continue to support people who have suffered catastrophic injuries.

Together, we can ensure no one has to rebuild their life on their own. Your donations will directly support this amazing charity, helping others who find themselves in similar situations to the one I faced.

Thank you for your support – it truly means the world to us.
