It’s unacceptable that more than half of people diagnosed with the deadliest common cancer die within three months. That’s why they need and deserve more. More research, more funding, more breakthroughs. More than hope. Together we’ll make that possible.

Story

Hello to anybody who is reading this💜

My name is Abby, my dad, Tony. On the 30th November 2024 after having “neurovirus” for a week became worse and woke up with more pain and jaundice. We arrived to A&E in which they said it was gallstones, after a week in hospital and further tests they informed us the possibility of it being cancer. He had a stent in the bilduct and also a biopsy on Friday 13th December and on December 30th our lives changed we were informed that he has terminal cancer in the pancreas, liver and bilduct.

This has came as a massive shock to both my dad and I. It’s fair to say it’s turned our life upside down. For anyone who doesn’t know my dad, he is the most kindest, compassionate, devoted and selfless man. Not in the world did he ever deserve this. He is my best friend and has been my best friend for 22 years.

He suddenly passed away on the 2nd February 2025

Pancreatic cancer is one of the most aggressive, deadliest and relentless cancers. Being extremely uncommon, at any stage of the diagnosis. With over half of people losing their lives within 3 months of their diagnosis.

Pancreatic cancer can be hard to diagnose. It often doesn’t cause symptoms in the early stages. Your test results may even show you do not have pancreatic cancer. As a result, 80% of people with pancreatic cancer are diagnosed too late. Too late for treatment, too late to survive.

Unfortunately late diagnosis is one of the biggest issues in pancreatic cancer but pancreatic cancer uk are investing in ground-breaking research to change this.

This is why I have decided to raise as much money as I can for Pancreatic Cancer UK to support there fundraising for more research to change the way things are now. And for anyone in the future, feeling the way both dad and I feel, hopefully there will be more research there for early diagnosis’s.

On the 12th July I am walking the 25km north downs Ultra Challenge. This is going to a challenge, taking around 7-8 hours to walk!! In which my boyfriend has decided to take part in with me. But, I will not stop there and won’t only just do the walk. I am wanting to do a lot more fundraising before July and after!

My aim now is to fundraise as much as I can to help anyone else going through what we are which has turned our lives upside down.

It would mean the world and will be massively appreciated if anyone could please donate anything however big or small

Thank you for reading my story and all i can say is always say I love you and give endless amounts of hugs 💜
