Story
In March 2026, I’ll be turning 60, and to mark this milestone I’ve decided to take on a personal challenge:
running six half-marathons (or as many as possible) over the course of the year.
Running has always been an important part of my life, helping me stay active and focused, and turning 60 felt like the right moment to challenge myself while also doing something positive for others.
Why I’m fundraising:
I’m raising money for Great Oaks Hospice, a local charity that provides free care and support for adults with life-limiting illnesses, as well as support for their families and carers.
Great Oaks Hospice offers a range of supportive, palliative and end-of-life care services, helping people in our community live as well as possible, for as long as possible. Their care is delivered by skilled staff and dedicated volunteers, and all services are provided free of charge, relying heavily on fundraising and community support.
By taking on this challenge, I hope to raise funds to help Great Oaks Hospice continue their vital work and support people when they need it most.
The challenge
• Six half-marathons in 2026 (possibly more)
• Starting with the first on 8th February
• All run in support of Great Oaks Hospice
How you can help
If you’re able to sponsor me, any donation — large or small — would be hugely appreciated. Your support will help motivate me through the training and races, and more importantly, help fund the incredible care provided by Great Oaks Hospice.
Thank you very much for your support.
