Climbing for charity

For over 70 years the Percy Hedley Foundation has delivered over 30million hours of care, education and support to tens of thousands of disabled people across the North East. With your support we will transform lives and offer every opportunity possible to live their lives to the full.

Story

It was my birthday recently so I’m fundraising for the Percey Hedley Foundation. You can see my progress below:

A bit of background as to why Im personally invested in helping with this fundraiser. As some of you may know, my wife works in Percey Hedley Foundation as a Special Needs Support Assistant. I hear about the challenges that she (and by extension, the kids) endures on a day to day basis.

I hear about the challenges that kids and staff there have to face on a day to day basis. These are kids that are in dire need of support in aspects like personal hygiene, learning, communication, and behaviour.

The foundation are constantly up against it, with the council pretty much having the power to cut their funding if they (after questionable ways of monitoring) come to the conclusion that a kid does not need the level of funding requested by the foundation. Therefore, they need to rely on the kindness of strangers like us.

Im a big supporter of fundraisers but have never done one myself! So here’s my first go at a proper fundraiser, so I’ll try and start slow. I’ll be climbing an indoor boulder route for every £1 raised (up to £100).

Thanks for your time, onto the boulders now!
